  1. In geometry, a `slice' taken out of a solid
  2. figure by a pair of parallel planes. A
  3. conical frustum, for example, resembles a
  4. cone with the top cut off. The volume and
  5. area of a frustum are calculated by
  6. subtracting the volume or area of the
  7. `missing' piece from those of the whole
  8. figure.
